About CrystalSpec

A shared product contract for people and coding agents

CrystalSpec is an AI-assisted specification workspace for teams that want product decisions to remain structured, reviewable, and usable throughout delivery.

Why this product exists

Software teams make product decisions in meetings, messages, tickets, design files, and code review. Each tool is useful, but none automatically makes those decisions one coherent contract. The result is familiar: implementation begins from different assumptions, and the written specification loses authority as soon as the work changes.

CrystalSpec gives those decisions a structured home. Teams can define behavior as connected flows, roles, data models, glossary terms, and test cases; review AI-proposed changes; publish revisions; and make the approved context available to coding agents through MCP.

Product principles

Structure makes ambiguity visible

Flows, roles, data models, and test cases expose relationships that a long page of prose can hide.

AI proposes; people decide

Generated work is useful when its status is clear and a human owns the decision to publish it.

History is part of the product

A revision should show what changed and preserve the context behind accepted product behavior.

What we claim—and what we do not

CrystalSpec is built for product specification and delivery context. It does not claim to replace source control, architecture documentation, issue trackers, or regulated requirements systems. Our comparison library describes those tradeoffs directly, including cases where another tool is the better fit.
